Science and Technology Parks: Opening the Pandora’s Box of Regional Development

For the last decades, Science and Technology Parks (STPs) have been emerging to help in development of regions; as a consequence, there has an improvement RIS (Regional Innovation System) performance. This research aims assess contribution STPs performance Portugal. A quantitative methodology is used, based on framework, which supported by four latent variables: (1) Policy Instrument (PI); (2) Regional Inputs (INNI); (3) Outputs (INNO), (4) Idiosyncrasies (REG). The data was collected from Scoreboard reports available for seven Portuguese regions: North, Center, Lisbon, Alentejo, Algarve, Autonomous Regions Azores Madeira between 2007 2018. working sample composed 392 observations. Our findings show clear innovation delimitation Lisbon areas are that strong innovation. rest country moderate innovation, including autonomous regions.
